The End of Real Conversations in Dating

Imagine this: you no longer need to think of clever opening lines or craft the perfect bio to find a match. AI now does it all for you. Dating apps are rolling out AI-powered "wingmen" that write profiles, flirt through chat, and even coach users on how to behave (Boyle, 2025).

But should we really let AI take over something as personal as relationships? Love isn’t just about matching the right words—it’s about real emotions, chemistry, and effort. When an AI helps you get a date, what happens when you meet in person without algorithmic assistance? The risk is that users become dependent on AI-generated conversations, making real-life interactions more awkward and anxiety-inducing than ever before.

Instead of helping us connect, AI might be making dating even harder.

AI Love Scams: A New Danger

Beyond the loss of authenticity, AI in dating apps introduces serious security risks. The rise of AI-generated messages makes it easier than ever for scammers to manipulate emotions.

💔 Fake AI-generated profiles can now initiate and maintain conversations, making scams more convincing.
💸 Fraudsters could use AI to automate romance scams, tricking victims into sending money.
😨 People may fall in love with AI personas, believing they’re talking to a real person when they’re not (Boyle, 2025).

If dating apps don’t put strong regulations in place, AI-driven scams could skyrocket, leaving countless users emotionally and financially devastated.

Love Shouldn’t Be AI-Generated

Dating is already tough—but outsourcing romance to AI isn’t the solution. While tech companies claim AI will help people connect, in reality, it risks making relationships shallower, more deceptive, and even dangerous.

Instead of letting AI take over the search for love, we should focus on bringing authenticity back to dating—real conversations, real emotions, and real connections.
